Gates of Olympus 2500: story and setting

Pragmatic Play calls Gates of Olympus one of the biggest game series the industry has seen. The 2500 is the newest entry in that Greek-myth series. Zeus is back on the reels, and the original’s rules (pay-anywhere wins, tumbles and multiplier symbols) stay as they were. The one change to the core is the multiplier cap, raised from 500x to 2,500x.

What is new is a bonus wheel spun just before free spins start. It picks one of four bonuses: Free Spins 1, Free Spins 2, or a ‘super’ version of either. In the launch release, the studio’s PR director said the four bonus modes and stronger multipliers add variety while keeping the core play that made the original a favourite.

How it plays, summarised from the studio’s description

Pay anywhere
8 to 12+ matching symbols anywhere on the 6×5 grid pay, then winning symbols vanish and new ones tumble in.
Multipliers up to 2,500x
They can land on any spin or tumble in the base game or bonus, and all values on one spin are added together and applied to the total win.
Bonus wheel
Four or more scatters award 15 free spins; first, a wheel picks which of four bonuses you get.
Free Spins 1
Only multipliers that land on a winning spin join the running total, which is then applied to that win.
Free Spins 2
Every multiplier that lands joins the running total, win or not, and the total applies to all later wins.
Super Free Spins
Both free-spin types have a super mode where the minimum multiplier is 10x. Three or more scatters during the feature add five spins.

RTP differs by 0.03 points across modes and buys. What changes is how much each decision costs, and so how much a single decision can lose. Against the base bet, every mode caps at 25,000x, so raising the cost per spin with an ante lowers the cap relative to what you pay. A thousand base spins (KRW 1,000,000 staked) carry an expected loss of KRW 34,800.

The chance of each event and the expected loss over 100, 1,000 and 10,000 spins of Gates of Olympus 2500

Even over 10,000 spins (about 2.8 hours at one spin a second) the chance of landing the max win even once is 0.074%, while the expected loss over that stretch is KRW 348,000.

Worked out from the studio’s published average frequencies as 1 − (1 − 1/frequency)^spins. It treats spins as independent; real sessions swing widely around these figures.

Reading the numbers

  • Ante costs climb in five steps from 1.25x to 250x. Even so, the server’s max win stays at 25,000x the base bet at every level. Measured against what you actually stake, the cap falls to 100x at ante level 5.
  • RTP by mode sits between 96.49% and 96.52%, a spread of 0.03 points. Choosing an ante or a bonus buy barely moves the expected loss rate. What changes is how much each decision costs and how wide the swings are.
  • A max-win frequency of 1 in 13,477,089 means about one hit every 156 days, even at one spin per second without a break.
  • The symbol paytable matches the original Gates of Olympus cell for cell: the top symbol pays 10x for 8 or 9 and 50x for 12+. What makes the 2500 different is the multipliers and bonuses.
