San Quentin Manhunt: story and setting
After months of careful planning, Beefy and the gang have broken out. With the whole prison emptying at once, the guards never stood a chance. But the dogs have found a scent, and the escapees can’t have got far. That is how the studio opens the story: a manhunt minutes after the break.
San Quentin is Nolimit City’s prison series. The previous entry, San Quentin 2: Death Row (24 Sep 2024), capped wins at 200,000x and was rated INSANE. Manhunt lowers the cap to 46,532x and the rating by one step to EXTREME. In return it is rebuilt around multiplier blocks that grow on each grid position.
How it plays, summarised from the studio’s description
- Scatter wins
- Seven or more symbols of a kind anywhere on the reel area pay; winners drop out and new symbols fall in.
- Multiplier blocks
- Every position has its own multiplier, doubling whenever the position is part of a win or is hit by Cell Search or xSplit. The base-game cap is 128x.
- Enhancer cells and feature symbols
- Locked cells above and below each reel spin independently and, once unlocked, reveal a Prisoner or feature symbol. The features: Cake Buster (opens a locked position as a Wild), xWays (expands into 2 to 4 matching symbols), xSplit (doubles the multipliers on its reel), Yard Dealer (upgrades a symbol) and Cell Search (on a losing spin, collects the lowest symbol into a multiplier Wild).
- Guard Tower bonus
- Bonus symbols land on reels 2 to 5. Three trigger Sewer Escape Spins; four trigger Manhunt Spins.
- Sewer Escape Spins
- Locked reels get sticky 2x, 4x, 8x or 16x multipliers, and multiplier blocks no longer reset between spins (cap 128x).
- Manhunt Spins
- Everything in Sewer Escape, plus a 512x cap on multiplier blocks and corner enhancer cells that open up.
- Jail Break
- If the total win passes 46,532x, the round ends and 46,532x is paid.

| Hit rate | 20.92% | A win roughly once every 4.8 spins, including wins below the stake |
| 100x+ wins | once every 879 spins | about every 15 minutes at one spin a second |

| Max win | 46,532x, once every 15,900,000 spins | about 184 days on average at one spin a second |
| Volatility | EXTREME (23.02) | EXTREME (the 4th highest index of the five Nolimit City games here, Mental II included) |

What Nolimit Boosters and Bonuses cost and guarantee
| Option | Type | Cost (x base bet) | At a KRW 1,000 base bet | What it guarantees (studio description) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bonus Booster | Booster (per spin) | 2x | KRW 2,000 | At least 1 Bonus symbol |
| 2x Bonus Booster | Booster (per spin) | 20x | KRW 20,000 | At least 2 Bonus symbols |

Worked out from the studio’s published average frequencies as 1 − (1 − 1/frequency)^spins. It treats spins as independent; real sessions swing widely around these figures.
Reading the numbers
- The bonus carries 40.63 points of RTP, second only to Brute Force (42.98) among the four Nolimit City games here. It also arrives least often of the four, about once in 281 spins.
- Wins of 100x or more come about once in 879 spins, the rarest of the four. Yet its max-win odds (1 in 15,900,000) are second-best, behind only Fire in the Hole 3.
- The odd-looking 46,532x is the ‘Jail Break’ cap named in the rules, and the same value appears in the studio’s page title.
- The priciest booster (two bonus symbols plus 128x on every position from the start) costs 2,000x the base bet, or KRW 2 million at a KRW 1,000 stake.
